The visitor passes through four fogscreens installed on the museum's gangway. HOME SWEET SOUR HOME are the four words projected on the fogscreens. The letters are formed by white ribbons that flutter in the wind. The movement distorts the letters, making them more or less visible. They allude to ribbon door curtains. Crossing the foggy projection surface evokes associations with crossing a threshold and raises the question of whether one is coming or leaving home and how to define it.
The Pan Tadeusz Museum of the National Ossolinski Institute in Wroclaw is a place that focuses on Polish literature and it's aspects of national identity and contemporary culture. This video installation was commissioned for the exhibition "Palimpsest. The Contexts of Writings" and relates to literature in exile and Polish literary currents after the Second World War.
