Within the frame of Festival of Future Nows, IFREX at Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin, two banners of thin canvas were painted with light sensitive pigments to create a weather chart of Europe displaying sunny weather. The weather chart appears and disappears as a function of the amount of ultraviolet light it receives, depending on the daytime, weather conditions, and the duration of exposure to the sun. While one can see a white banner on which a weather chart starts to appear once exposed to daylight, the light sensitive ink alludes to the palpably unknown of a hopefully sunny future and becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Es wurden zwei Fahnen mit lichtsensitiver Farbe bedruckt. Das Motiv zeigt eine Wetterkarte Europas bei Sonnenschein. In Funktion des Tageslichtes, der Wetterlage und Dauer der Bestrahlung wird je nach Sonneneinstrahlung und UV-Lichtintensität das Motiv im steten Wandel mehr oder weniger sichtbar. Das Motiv, das je nach Tageszeit und Lichteinfall changiert, wird, gleich einer Vorahnung auf eine hoffentlich sonnige Zukunft, eine selbsterfüllende Prophezeiung und humorvolles Sinnbild dessen, was wir nicht konkret wissen.
